Why Sarah Palin for VP scares me

Looking at CNN.com I came across this story about Sarah Palin's religious beliefs. To be really honest I wasn't too shocked after hearing Palin make a few speeches but like most people I hate to be right.
"Speaking of the troops in Iraq, Palin says on the video, ""Pray for our military men and women who are striving do to what is right. Also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for -- that there is a plan, and that plan is God's plan.'" Video Watch Palin speak at her former church »here
The saddest part is that many people in this country, like Palin, still believe in manifest destiny. May God help us all.

I don't think anyone has said anything about manifest destiny, which involves taking land... I see your concern, but come on, Barack's religious beliefs don't scare you?

Sorry Heidi, no Barack's religious beliefs do not scare me, I pretty much believe most of what Barack believes religiously, watch the video of him being interviewed by Rich Warren. And if you don't call someone believing that God has ordained U.S. troop to take over a country for our benefit manifest destiny I don't know what it is. Sorry...I think it is a little naïve for us, as U.S. citizens, to believe that our country is doing anything that is ordained by God and that the U.S. invading Iraq was, as Palin states, "God's plan." If anything God is upset that we believe we can walk around and put words in his mouth like we do. Sorry Heidi I know you might disagree but it is hard for me to imagine the same God who says blessed are the peacemakers, calls his followers to turn their cheeks, and dies on a cross to be the same God who supports a war of any kind. I hope you take this in love...
p.s. I miss Utah!

Hey, agreeing to disagree is part of what we teach students, right?

Totally taken in love.

I see your point.

But I also find it hard to imagine that someone calls themselves a "Christian," but wouldn't want their daughters "punished" by a baby, and supports partial-birth abortion.

I don't miss California, but I do miss you!

Hey Heidi, I have no idea what you mean by, "would want their daughters punished by a baby?" And Obama is for partial birth abortions only when the mother is in danger of death. That is why he did not agree to pass the law and voted against it. He said if it had a clause that said only if the mothers life was in danger he would have voted yes on the law. Try to find the interview with Rich Warren it is a good one, Rich Warren interviews both Obama and McCain.

I saw the interviews with Rick Warren, but I feel like Obama changes his answers depending on his audience.

Ok, I haven't seen that but maybe?

Hey Steve! I miss you too man. Hope you're doing well. When are you going to be in UT next? Are you coming to the National Student Dialogue Conference next month?

I just wanted to weigh in and say that the way I understood her when I watched the video was that she was saying that the people should pray that there IS in fact a plan for what our country is doing, and that God is in control of that plan. I don't think she was saying that what has been going on IS or IS NOT God's plan...just that we should be praying for Him to be in control. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for -- that there is a plan, and that plan is God's plan." I don't think she was speaking very eloquently/clearly, but I think this is the core of what she was trying to get at.
